To hold oneself captive
his dark shadow
overwhelming me,
pulling me down
into blackness
holding my heart
that bloodies his hands
and spills in
the ocean's practice
cover my eyes and
drown me in bones,
I'll never recover
from terror
whisper a lie,
as if it was true
then drag me to my preparer
he'll show me dark ways
and make me see death
while the ashes of my life
sneak away
he's stolen my laughter
that's now in his throat
and my crippled emotions
betray
I see flowers, they’re growing
but, just in my head
I hear slaves sing aloud,
they are free
yet here I must lay,
my thoughts distant from here
While I journey the world
from captivity
overwhelming me,
pulling me down
into blackness
holding my heart
that bloodies his hands
and spills in
the ocean's practice
cover my eyes and
drown me in bones,
I'll never recover
from terror
whisper a lie,
as if it was true
then drag me to my preparer
he'll show me dark ways
and make me see death
while the ashes of my life
sneak away
he's stolen my laughter
that's now in his throat
and my crippled emotions
betray
I see flowers, they’re growing
but, just in my head
I hear slaves sing aloud,
they are free
yet here I must lay,
my thoughts distant from here
While I journey the world
from captivity
